Abstract: The article examines the role of agricultural consumer cooperation in the development of farms. A methodology is proposed for determining rural municipal areas characterized by the best potential for organizing consumer cooperatives of farmers specializing in the production of certain types of products. This approach assumes a general assessment of the potential of the district in terms of the level of business activity of farms, as well as the selection of districts taking into account the number of farms operating on their territory of a certain specialization and the de-gree of uniformity of the scale of activity of potential members of the cooperative. The proposed method is implemented on the example of the Penza region.
