Abstract: The article gives an assessment of the state of the population's households from 2005 to 2020. Their high role in the food supply and survival of the country's population in times of crisis is noted. It is concluded that the aggravation caused by the sanctions imposed on Russia, as well as the decline in the level of incomes of the population observed in recent years, require increased attention to this category of farms from the state. A system of organizational and economic measures to solve this problem is proposed.
