Abstract: The practice of development of agricultural cooperation in Russia and abroad increasingly comes in conflict with the classical cooperative principles formulated by Raiffeisen and Schultze-Delich and enshrined in the Charter of the International Co-operative Alliance. However, at the beginning of the last century, A. Chayanov and I. Emelyanov noted the diversity of cooperatives and conducted and audit of cooperative principles. Modern trends in agricultural cooperation indicate the commercialization of cooperatives and their integration into more competitive enterprises. The task of the state is to understand what forms of vertical coordination of small farms in rural areas should be supported in the first place.
