Abstract: The study analyzes the current trends in the organization of breeding and seed production of agricultural crops in the leading food-producing countries in the world. The role of seed breeding in ensuring sustainable growth of agricultural production and ensuring global food security is assessed. The directions of interaction between the public and private sectors of the economy in the functioning of the seed industry are presented. The prospects for the development of breeding and seed production in the context of new trends in the resource provision of the world economic complex and the economy of developed countries and the growing need for food on a planetary scale are substantiated.
