Abstract: The analysis and forecast of the demographic and labor resource base for the development of the agro-industrial complex is presented. The typology of rural areas is characterized by the level and dynamics of socio-economic development. The article analyzes the practice of applying a program-oriented approach to social development of rural territories and regional regulation of this process in Russia, including within the framework of the State program for integrated development of rural territories for 2020-2025.
