Abstract: The article presents the results of a study of the impact of various factors on the dynamics of milk production in the segment of the farm. The division of factors is offered, the aggregated segment of the factors which do not have reflection in statistics is allocated. The distribution of the relationship of different types of factors that ensured the achievement of milk production growth in 19 subjects of the Russian Federation, which gave ¾ of the increase in the country for the period 2006-2016, is given. Proposals for the development and maintenance of systemic issues that can have a fundamental impact on the development of dairy farming in the segment of small and medium-sized businesses are presented.
