Abstract: The article notes that gardening occupies a key place in the implementation of import substitution policies. This is due to the continuously increasing need ofpeople for fruits and berries with high biological value necessary to improve human health. The problems of the industry (financial dependence, low profitability, loss of qualified personnel, etc.) related to modern reforms remained insurmountable for many producers. The largest share in the gross production offruits falls on personal subsidiary farms, which does not allow the transition to a high-tech level of industry management. The work emphasizes the need to restore industrial horticulture for a more successful implementation of the import substitution policy.
