Abstract: In the Russian market of oilseeds the main role belongs to sunflower. Its dominant position in Russia is ex-plained by historical reasons, as well as suitable climatic conditions for its production. Russian scientists breedersplayed a large role to improve the quality characteristics of sunflower. In general, at present the Russian Federationhas a satisfactory situation with the production of sunflower oilseeds. The share of soybeans purchased abroad is cur-rently 61‰ in relation to the volume ofprocessing. For the effective development of the Russian oils and fats complex,it is necessary to overcome the dependence on foreign suppliers and expand the production of soybeans and productsof their processing.
