Abstract: The trends observed today in the development of foreign trade, investment activity, industrial production, changes in the national currency exchange rate, inflation picture and monetary policy indicate that together they will restrain economic growth in the sectors of the national economy. Small businesses together provide 40% of the total volume of agricultural production, being a full-fledged player in the food market and a guarantor of achieving food security for the country. It appears that the strategic goal facing about 22 thousand enterprises in the food and processing industry to ensure a guaranteed and sustainable supply of safe and high-quality food to the country's population has been achieved. With the introduction of an embargo on agricultural and food supplies from unfriendly countries in 2014 and a sharp change in the ruble exchange rate, the domestic food and processing industry received serious market and price support for growth. In this regard, the positive dynamics of its production indicators and the surge in investment activity by industry companies observed in recent years seem logical.
