Abstract: In the article, the authors show a growing scientific interest in the concept of "emotional intelligence". The approaches that researchers use in interpreting its definition are highlighted. These are perceptions of their own emotions and society, perception of emotions and the establishment of dialogue, emotion management. According to the authors, emotional intelligence is a set of skills and abilities that allow you to realize, analyze your emotions and the emotions of others, as well as manage them. A high level of emotional intelligence allows you to use it not only to manage your emotions, but also the work team and other stakeholders. Based on the analysis of scientific publications, the authors showed the relationship of emotional intelligence with other skills and competencies. The approaches of scientists to the structure of emotional intelligence are analyzed. The study conducted by the authors proved that there is a sufficiently large number of skills in demand in the labor market that reflect to a greater or lesser extent the emotional intelligence of agricultural workers, which confirms the need for its development.
