Abstract: The work is devoted to the problems of the importance of water resources and water use systems in the branches of agriculture in Russia. The total volume of fresh water reserves in Russia is presented, the indicators of river runoff in the economic regions of Russia are assessed, as well as the use of water resources for the needs of agriculture, indicating the main systems, forms and directions of water use in agricultural production. The aggregated norms of water consumption in the branches of production and processing of agricultural products are given. The main groups of indicative indicators of the functioning of water use systems in the sectors of production and processing of agricultural products, as well as the system of main indicators of the efficiency of water use in agricultural organizations are indicated.
