Abstract: The paper considers the dynamics of sown areas structure transformation in the regions of the Nonchernozem zone. The classification of regions by the structure of sown areas was carried out. The interrelation between the structure of sown areas, agro-climatic characteristics of regions and the development of rural areas in them is revealed. The main directions of the use of sown areas in the selected groups of regions are determined.
